It's harder for people to think I'm somebody's pet if I walk in with a companion.

There's more to it than that though. I have a lot of history with fancy parties. Too often I've attended as the entertainment, or as a spy, or as a ... you like to say hunter? And then I've also hosted poetry salons, and been at Conclave parties where I had multiple protectors and people had bets on whose mistress I was, all of which were actually wrong because I've always been my own mistress.

Clubbing is fun. Balls and galas...I don't often get to go as just one of the guests.

I'm usually working at galas, even if it's just for the Glorious Revolution. Showing up with a friend means I'm there to have fun, right? I could have gone with Misfire but people know that we used to do field work together, even though I actually have better girls' nights with him than with any of the actual girls that I know. You and I hang out together just because we have fun.

I've always wondered what it was like to be nobody very important at a party like this. But I know too well what it's like to be someone who's less than nobody.

Well, this one, everyone's a guest and no one's from this particular dimension, so I'd say we'd all mostly be on equal footing at least. But you're absolutely right- this won't be business. We will have ourselves some fun, maybe dance on a couple of tables.
