Personality:
Cayde-6 is by far one of the most easy-going of the Vanguard. He prefers a direct approach when it comes to dealing with problems, especially when the problems make good targets. The Ghost puts it best: "Cayde is a cunning hunter, with years of experience in staying alive in the wilds. But, um, fighting a war isn't his strong suit. I'm not sure the 'shoot them all to death' strategy is going to be enough."

He's a very casual Guardian, always speaking what he feels and when he can get away with it, doing the same. Every chance he gets, he'll always be ready to volunteer himself to go out and do something if it will get him out of the Guardian's Tower, even though he knows he'll ultimately be shot down for the idea. While he doesn't quite despise the work he does as a Vanguard, he'd much rather be involved in the action. Still, he understands how important his role is, as reluctant as he is to admit it, and he won't quietly back down, fighting every bit of the way.

When it comes to protocol, well, it just doesn't much exist with Cayde. As mentioned before, he'll do what he wants if he feels it necessary- and within his ability to do so. That said, making use of the Tower PA system for personal reasons is but one example. When the Taken King's threat became known, rather than stand around trying to talk out strategies (or just plain talk, as likely he expected that was all that would be done, especially with Zavala heading the topic), Cayde left during the meeting to actually get something moving in terms of action. ...of course, that did involve 'borrowing' Eris Morn's ship to have it refitted with a stolen stealth drive he'd stashed on Earth at some point, and then volunteering a Guardian to fly it out to the Taken King's Dreadnaught to infiltrate and set up a transmat so that other Guardians could transport themselves to the location for an assault. That...didn't work out quite so well but it still effectively put a Guardian on a ship previously deemed untouchable! Once a gambler, always a gambler. He may have had some bad outcomes for it, but he's also had some good things come through, and Cayde is ever the risk taker, especially if he considers the stakes worth it. It didn't take him long after the siege of the Last City by the Red Legion for him to decide to take matters into his own hands, deciding the quickest way to end it was to get a Vex teleporter and warp right to the leader Dominus Ghaul and put a bullet in his head. ...which...naturally didn't work either, but the teleporter did come into play when the Vanguard reunited and laid out plans to retake their home.

He's not really a big fan of meetings. He feels that time's just wasted when things can be done than just spoken about. It's why he and the Titan Vanguard Zavala always butt heads so much, Zavala being very formal and thorough for tactics and detail, and Cayde-6 being, well...Cayde-6. No matter how serious the situation, the Exo will always find the opportunity for sarcasm, and his sense of humor often helps lighten the heavy air. At least the Warlock Vanguard, Ikora, is willing to banter with him at times. Otherwise his only source for entertainment relies upon the Guardians who report to him, his parting words to them more often than not adding in a whispered plea of "Hey, take me with you..!"

Aside from his love of letting his guns do the talking, Cayde is also quite fond of the equipment he's gathered and looted in his time as a Hunter. Before becoming the Hunter Vanguard, he'd stashed away a lot of things in hopes that whenever he was finally relieved of duty, that he'd be able to go and reclaim them. He is...very possessive of his stuff, unsurprisingly taking it as a personal affront if anything of his goes missing. It might just be an extension of how possessive he is of his memories, anything that has to do with him, that makes him him. He's described it as cards in a deck being shuffled, dealt out, and then reshuffled again. While most Exos might simply choose to forget their past, Cayde hordes every bit that ever comes to his mind, deciding to 'play the hand' he's been dealt.

He's taken that an extra step by employing actual playing cards to mark things and help him remember, specific examples given the mission he sends a Guardian on to retrieve the stolen stealth drive he'd hidden. Cayde admits to using royal cards for marking his stashes for weaponry, and hearts for some girl he knew, although he refuses to go into any detail on that.

What he's recorded of the things he knows reveals a perhaps surprisingly artistic side to him. His journal entries have a poetic air, and sketches interspersed with his notes prove that having a body of metal does nothing to hinder a careful touch. And then there are notes, letters written to a son he's not even quite sure he ever really had, but it's another thing of his memories he hasn't allowed himself to let go. While Cayde won't share his experiences with just anyone, he's willing to impart what he's collected- both of knowledge and of loot, to those that might be best described as kindred spirits. Those with a sharp eye, willing to walk the fine lines of boundaries, risk-takers. Maybe it's just another way of living vicariously through the experiences of a Guardian not chained to the Tower. Still, he'll prove that his time as Hunter Vanguard hasn't at all softened his skills as a Hunter.

Abilities:
Guardians are fighters, chosen and blessed by the Light of the Traveler, reborn to protect people from the corrupt forces of the Darkness and beyond. They are not indestructible, but so long as they have their Ghost, they are virtually immortal, capable of resurrecting from death so long as the Light remains. Their skills are superhuman, capable of leaping farther, running longer and even ghost-stepping (blinking) briefly through targets and spaces. Over time they can regenerate their wounds and strength, making them able to press on in combat.

Cayde-6 is an experienced Hunter, proficient in both ranged and melee weapons. He can use a variety of firearms, and although the only obvious melee weapon on him is a knife, it's not to be easily dismissed. Good Hunters can dispatch enemies with a knife with just as much efficiency as a gun. He's an excellent sharpshooter and not too bad if things turn into an all out brawl either.

By making use of solar elemental energy, Cayde-6 can also use what's called the Golden Gun, which engulfs him in and his weapon in gold flames and super charges his gun, allowing him to fire off high-powered blasts, although for only a brief span of time, usually good enough for severael shots. But sometimes one shot is all it takes. Aside from that, he's able to similarly channel that energy into flaming knives that he flings all at once in multiple directions.

As an Exo, Cayde's body is robotic, although even Exos do not know nor understand how their own inner workings function. All such knowledge has been lost with the Golden Age's Collapse. It seems only fair to assume that he can hit a little harder and take more physical stress than a body of flesh and blood, at the very least.

*Since Cayde's not coming with his Ghost Sundance, he won't be able to heal or be resurrected until they're reunited.
